First Indian Wedding | Charlotte, North Carolina Wedding Photographer

This past weekend I was able to experience something that I have been dreaming about doing for a long time....
Being able to shoot my first Indian Wedding!

Words cannot explain the amount of fun I had at Harsha & Bianca's wedding. What an amazing learning experience it was. I was accompanied by my good friend Deepesh. We both tag-teamed this wedding beautifully! He is a photographer who has never shot a wedding and I photograph weddings but never shot an Indian wedding... So it was a perfect match. We found out we work really well together and cannot wait to shoot more and grow our passion for photography!

Check out some of the images below. The day before was what is called Pendlikoothuru. :[ A day or two prior to the wedding, the ritual of pendlikoothuru takes place at both the bride's and groom's places. The boy and the girl are smeared with nalugu (a paste of turmeric and flour) and scented oils. After the cleansing, they go for a bath and change into new clothes.]

Stay tuned for some images from the Wedding Day!

And...I'm back!!

I am back from my wonderful trip to New Orleans, L.A. for Imaging USA 2012!

I had a BLAST and was able to see so many different sites and sounds. Including Jazz. Check out this awesome artist, who we got to see play live, Kristina Morales & The Bayou Shufflers!

I got many blisters from walking a lot (note to self: do NOT bring new shoes to a city you have to walk every where to) but I had so much fun in this great city. Here is a list of some great restaurants to check out if you are ever in the city!
(P.S. DOH! Wish I remembered to take photos of all the places we went to!)

Top  Restaurants to visit in New Orleans:

1) Mulates
Right across the Convention Center and loading docks for the boat terminal, was a restaurant called Mulates.
With everything from Po-Boys to friend onion rings (which Jean & I had) with GIANT cups of Louisiana sweet tea, you just can't go wrong!
Price range: $$

2) Napoleon House
The first place we went to eat our first night there. This little and quiet place packed a big punch of flavor in their food- and a LOT of it! I had red beans and rice with a side salad and Jean had an Italian meat Po-boy. We started off our meal with bruschetta and it was so good!
Price range: $

3) Dante Pizza
Unfortunately, Dante's does not have a website but mind you... this place was GREAT! So they are forgiven for not having a website for you all to check out. ;)
Pizza by the slice, Dante Pizza has great pizza for a lot of bang for your buck. I got 2 cheese slices and Jean got 2 pepperoni slices and man was that a lot of food! We stumbled upon this little "hole in a wall" by chance and glad we did! Such a great place to check out!
Price Range: $

Until next time,xoxo.

Hair

So my friend Jenna asked me if I had any ideas for a hair-do for her since she is going on a job interview. This is what I came up with:
Please excuse the no makeup :(

This is my favorite look because it looks playful and youthful but easily professional.

Steps:
1-- Part hair on the side. I zig-zagged mine to add a little more flare to the hair. (oh snap, that rhymed...)
2-- French braid the larger part of hair and secure with a small elastic band.
3-- Bring back the other side of your part and secure with a few bobby pins or with a decorative bow or comb.
4-- I converted my curling iron to this style because for me I like the look it gives to your hair. While having the curling iron have the clasp on it, you get the crimped look on the ends of your hair. This re-do of the curling iron helps your curls look more natural and a little less uniform.
5-- Comb out those curls a bit with your fingers and spray with hair spray to prevent those fly-aways from going anywhere.
Tada! You're done. Check out below some other hair styles I have done.

Coffee Time!

So the amazing boyfriend of mine bought me the greatest gift a photographer could ask for....A replica Nikon lens MUG! HELLO- how awesome is that?!?!! Take a look:

How excited I was when he hid this in the room for me to find.

Not only does EVERYTHING on the outside look like the real Nikon 24-70mm 2.8 lens, but the lens itself ZOOMS in and out! Wicked!!! The screw on top is that of a lens cap...complete with the Nikon symbol. I am tickled to DEATH over this gift.

Now where's my double shot- extra foam- 3 equal coffee? :)
Until next time...
